Bone broth contains many of the nutrients that are found in the collagen and cartilage of the bones. These include chondroitin sulphate, glucosamine, glycine, proline, and arginine. Bone broth is also rich in vitamins C, D, K, B-12, and B–6, iron, thiamine, potassium, calcium, silicon, sulphur, magnesium, potassium, niacin, riboflavin, zinc, copper, and more.
Here is my go-to instant pot recipe for Cooper!
Now you can make this without an instant pot but it will need to simmer for a minimum of 10 hours however 16-24 is better.
Place the trivet in the bottom of the instant pot then add the following ingredients
2 Beef Neck bones
1lbs Oxtails
3 marrow bones
4 chicken feet
2 carrots
2 celery ribs
cover with water
3TBS of apple cider vinegar
5 sprigs fresh thyme
set for 2 hours on high-pressure cook let naturally release 20 minutes
Strain your broth from the bones & veggies. Separate the meat, marrow and vegetables from the bones then pure the meat veggies and marrow these are great to fill Kongs or make licky mats!
Let the broth cool overnight in the fridge and remove the layer of fat from the top of the gelatinized broth and discard the fat. Then freeze in ice cube trays to use when needed.
As a general rule, dogs can have one ounce of bone broth per day per 20 pounds of body weight.
